Why 3D-Printed Flutes? A Maker's Story
By Mike Fifield
I started White Cloud Flutes in my garage after years of carving wooden flutes by hand. The breakthrough came when I realized that 3D printing could give me consistent bore geometry and tuning — the parts of flute-making that take years to master with traditional materials.
Every flute that leaves my shop is printed on calibrated machines, hand-finished, and individually tuned by ear. The result: instruments that are affordable, durable, and surprisingly expressive.
This blog is where I'll share my process, new designs, and tips for getting the most out of your flute.
